Thinking about that time there wasn't an official AS3/Flash profiler, and I couldn't get any of the third-party tools working, so I just wrote a preprocessor that added timing code to the start and end of every function, but it turned out Flash doesn't support timing resolution smaller than a millisecond, so I ran the code on worse and worse computers until one was slow enough to measure the bottlenecks
