Just invited a colleague I've never met to join a project I'm working on. She sent me just the nicest email, thanking me for a couple of articles I'd written. Given the state of the precariat this is A GOOD THING TO DO, because we don't always know that anybody is reading our stuff. If you like something someone's written, it's ok to say so.
