In the workplace, there are high-trust jobs where a person is given independence and autonomy, or low-trust jobs where a they are monitored and micro-managed.
Similarly:
Software can be high-trust where it serves the user, source code is visible and the user is trusted to pay the creator for their efforts, based on usefulness.
OR it can be low-trust where the user is monitored, locked-in and controlled, while forced to pay a fixed ongoing amount.
