There is no reason anyone should ever feel obligated to put on such a "shoe" apart from patriarchy-related reasons.
Bras I can understand as they provide support for those who need them (*for those who need them!), but an uncomfortable bra really defeats the entire purpose unless the purpose is patriarchy-related.
