They believe they were brought to earth as celestials to protect the planet by their Lord. The way they talk about him and revere him is really similar to how angels revere God himself. They also had long flowing robes which is what traditional Chinese attire is based upon. The almost hive minded behavior is also akin to the lack of free will in angels at least compared to humans. Could the ancestors of the Chinese actually have been the stewards sent here by God to preserve the planet?
