Nikole Hannah-Jones, in an onstage interview at ONA 23, gets a question about the backlash to the 1619 Project. After joking that she's reminded of that every time "I'm sitting next to someone on Delta who's watching Fox News," she says the project "was intentionally being evocative" to provoke people to reconsider their beliefs. But her work becoming a political target brought up in Congress was "insane to me."
