I hear what you're saying. I also think people can be very complex.
I run photo tours and sometimes we get people aboard who are from the other end of the political spectrum. I had a Trump fan for example.
It was valuable for me to spend time with her. To recognize her as a person who cares about others, and her loved ones, but who takes a totally different political direction to myself. She wasn't "an idiot" or "a monster" or whatever. She simply believes things that I do not.
