I try to make my MCs distinct from each other and so to me. While they will certainly reflect some of my thinking, I try to add in divergence. For example, one MC is status conscious and prefers an ostentatious lifestyle, while I am quite the opposite. This same MC also harbors ill-feelings toward an entire group of people. Part of her arc is learning better in this regard.
