I’m not sure if today’s #SciArtSeptember prompt of “happily ever after” is a thing that happens in the real world but I thought of the great mathematician, writer and polymath, Mary Fairfax Somerville (1780-1872). Arguably the best thing that ever happened to her was when she became a young widowed mother. Her first marriage to Lieutenant Samuel Greig had not been happy; he did not think much of women’s intellectual capacity. 🧵1/n
