i somewhat remember the early social media years being quite ok for free speech. i was young but felt like people generally said what they pleased. then, cancel culture and big tech encroachment around 2015 sparked a decline of free speech. now, with nostr, we have free speech inscribed in the protocol. we just need more users to further the movement. before social media, the institutions of the day controlled what people said and heard.
