Turning it out of the prevailing wind is a good idea but make sure the birds feel they have an escape route.
If you have no future use for the storage container drill a few holes in the 'bottom' to allow for drainage.
And clean it every few months with a 5% bleach solution (rinse really well) to keep viruses and things from spreading from one bird to the next in the close space.
