I think the period of Republican crisis is fully over. For about a decade there were a lot of opportunities for the party to be decisively diminished and my sense is that their previous vulnerabilities are now fully gone. America will probably have this Trumpist incarnation of the party for decades and I think we missed a wide window to set our own battlefield for the next couple decades. Trump will be the Reagan of kids born ten years from now: the party defining figure that every intractable disaster traces back to.
