If you're old enough you might remember when analogue control sticks showed up, and suddenly sports games went from 8 directional control to running around in any direction.
You might also remember losing interest in those games, because (happy to discuss in the replies) analogue control is way less fun.
If you're even older you might recall four directional control sports games, and how they also kinda sucked.
So now I'm wondering - what is the optimal number of movement directions? 7? 5?
