Again from a Jungian perspective this display is normal. Apparently catholic mass has lots of “dark” symbology, and indigenous cultures sacrificed blood.
Though I’m not sure if it matters whether people are conscious of it. I don’t think it does.
Point being when a culture sees itself as “good” and rejects the bad, then the “bad” pops up in different ways. Better in ritual than genocide…
