Macron did try to hint at a future “immigration law”, but that’s such an obvious ploy to try to exploit divisions between the nationalists and the leftists that everybody saw it as such.

Sociologically, I must admit that the far-left parties are the ones who actually have the people who will do most of the striking, because they own a lot of the top echelons of the big national unions which can actually shut down big corporations, but they also know that their big strikes only work if the average barely-politicized worker supports them and doesn’t see them as destroying their livelihood, and those are mostly owned by the nationalists.
