I have 3 nodes, one is a very small node that's just hosting a minecraft server as my little test node. I update that one first with all the updates and see if everything comes back online as expected. If so, I move to my 2nd busiest node running my homeserver stuff and a few other things and update that. If that one comes up normally, then I have a pretty good sample size that my last node, my important one, will come up just fine.
