Walked down to the park at dusk to see if we could see the barred owl chick, and wow, we didn’t have to peer through vines on the dead tree near the path where the nest is, because it had flown to the top of the neighboring dead tree and was craning its neck around to look at things. It’s still pretty fluffy!
This explains why we had seen the silhouette of an adult owl in a nearby tree over the path with its neck stretched up and peering in that direction.
