I know it can feel like voting doesn't make a difference, but governments of all stripes don't care about people who don't vote.
For example:
Young people don't tend to vote. So student grants were dropped in favour of loans, and now students pay tuition fees.
Old people do tend to vote, so they got triple-locked pensions.
