That way you can document exactly how much power budget they have, and safely shut them off if they go nuts, without stressing the PSU or browning out the rest of the system (which is good because if CPU gets to keep running, it can blink an \"overcurrent protection\" LED or something to tell the user their hand-tinkered controller's gone wrong)",
