This is Bent Creek Experimental Forest, near Asheville, North Carolina. Bent Creek is the oldest federal experimental forest east of the Mississippi River. It's also where I said to my sister who took me there: "Oh look, it's a place for forest rangers with OCD. They number the trees and count them every morning."

Anyway, in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, there's a good chance half of the trees are now gone. And sadly, with that shithead in the White House, there's a good chance half of the forest rangers are gone too.
