You can follow it from Mastodon if you like...\n\nAs for hashtags, both Pixelfed and Mastodon will surface the posts from across the Fediverse that use a given hashtag.\n\nBut.\n\nOn Pixelfed, it will just surface the posts with pictures and videos, so it's easier to find the accounts posting pictures and videos. \n\nOn Mastodon, it will surface text posts as well as pictures. \n\nAnd then local on Pixelfed is just photo posts, rather than the text posts that dominate on a Mastodon instance.\n\nSo if you want an Instagram replacement that's focused on photos, or you're looking for great photography and images, then Pixelfed has a much better UX for it.
