And most people will say: I have no intention of ever running over elderly disabled Jewish ladies so I don't mind such a law.
But recall 20 years ago they passed the Hate Crime laws, which established some protected classes and indicated that crimes which were already illegal would now be MORE illegal if they were committed with intent of harming people of those classes.
Most people didn't mind those laws because "I'm Not Gonna Hate Anyone", but fast forward 20 years and we see two effects:
1. What would ordinarily be considered street fighting or even self-defense is now being litigated as Hate Crime by some district attorneys.
2. The definition has expanded from actual crime to hate SPEECH, which the ruling party has gradually expanded to include as much political dissent as can get away with. Once the camel's nose is under the tent...
