everyone new to bitcoin/nostr.

Here the unit of account are satoshi (sats)
1 sat = 0.00000001 ₿
If a coin is not Bitcoin, it's a shitcoin, including the $.
The sats that flow here on nostr use the lightning network, a layer above the bitcoin network where you can quickly send sats for almost free. You can quickly setup your lightning wallet and address using @getAlby but keep in mind that you have to trust them, so don't put to much sats there, they hold them for you. The best way to use lightning is to use your own lightning node. ZEUS (npub1xnf…lpr5) is working hard to make it simple to just do that on your phone, maybe next release.
If you want to buy some bitcoin, dont use a shitcoin casino like binance or kraken, etc.. and keep bitcoin there, they always end up stealing people. If you doubt about that, seach about mtgox, quadrigacx and FTX to name just few collapses. Use bitcoin only exchange like bullbitcoin, here my referal to obtain extra sats, mission.bullbitcoin.com/bhodl
Learn to self-custody your bitcoin using your own keys. Even better, use a signing device like those from Coinkite (npub1wu4…3vw0) With cold storage, yours bitcoin are always offline.

When you create a nostr identity, you create a pair of keys. A private key (nsec) and a public key (npub). Take care of them, make a backup, dont leak your private key. If you lose it, there is no way to recover, you lose your identity. If someone steal it, they can act on your name.
Your public key (npub) is used to share your identity to others. But keep in mind that anyone can see what you see. Your follow, your follower, even who you are talking to in DM (but not the actual message because it encrypted and only readable using your private key.)
If possible, try to not cross post to much to other social network, bring the content here. Some people dont like to go back to legacy centralised and censored social media to see content.
Relay are where you send and receive notes. Take care of not using to much relays and busting your mobile data plan. There are relay with to much spam and other that are better. You can pay a one
small amount of sats to have read and write acces to higher quality relay. You can also pay a small amount of sat to prove you are humans and register a NIP05 identity. This can be used to filter real human.
If you dont have a lot of follower and want to reach people, use hashtags. There are no algorythm here to be seen, you make your own with hashtags. You can follow hashtags to see those content on your home tab. Here are some usefull one:
