I think Bitwarden is a step up in the security department from Lastpass. Here is a link to instructions on how to move from lastpass to bitwarden.

If you are interested in self hosting and are less technical look into start9.com. They have pre-built self hosting servers which are directed towards the less technical. In their marketplace they have Vaultwarden which is a Bitwarden server implementation.
