I find the article failed to even touch on the topic of what happens if you open the app on pc browser only, (leaving aside how unusable it is sometimes), what happens if you "need" to be on the platform as Chief already mentioned, and what security precautions you can take if you "need" to be on the platform to non tech/security savvy users. The article took a phone/tablet app centrist approach and sometimes it felt the article played the fear card more than the informative card.
I am not defending TikTok by any means but as a privacy advocate I feels it failed to create a compelling case outside of fear of the "communist" giant.
