The fact that the crypto industry (via the Chamber of Digital Commerce) is freaking out about the U.S. Energy Information Administration issuing an “emergency collection of data request" targeting digital asset mining businesses and calling it "overreach, - when all it really does is require reporting of data on electricity consumption - suggests the amount of electricity used by crypto mining operations is probably a *lot* higher than what everyone currently thinks it is.
