When a people lose their sense of racial/ethnic identity, that loss is often marked by deterioration of national beauty, cleanliness, and creativity. I look at the stunning infrastructure rising overseas, and then I see what has become of historic American cities, which were once beautiful but now more closely resemble a prison ward filled with trash and graffiti. I don't even consider those places American anymore. They're as foreign to me as Mogadishu.
