I believe the counter-argument to the energy FUD is harder to understand than this one for most people.
Maybe I am too optimistic, but I believe most people will see that if you agree on banning bitcoin because of this, then you must agree to ban "the internet" for serving CP as well.
In theory, yes, but also the energy consumption is in theory just crap and lots of people use it as a weapon against Bitcoin. I think it's just something to be prepared if the moment comes.
