I don't use the home feed very much tbh, just live in the relevant hashtags with a list column or two so I can barge unceremoniously into conversations.
Now we can exclude lists from the home feed it's perfect because I can mass-follow people who toot about American football, for example, stick them all in a list that I don't otherwise look at, but now my server has all those people federated and a Sunday night search for #NFL will bring up way more stuff!
