Opinion | Why China avoided the wars of religion that consumed other places
==========
China has historically seen peaceful coexistence of different religions; foreign religions were accepted and Sinicised; major belief systems include Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism; Christianity and Islam also established roots; clashes were rare and often tied to identity rather than doctrine; significant rebellions include the Yellow Turban Rebellion (184–205) and the Taiping Rebellion (1850–1864); Chinese people generally tolerant of diverse beliefs as long as they do not threaten state stability.
