I can agree with that but where does the filtering stop? Does filtering actually stop the problem of "Spam". What if knots only get 5% of nodes.
I am of the opinion this is a lot of fuss about nothing much. As I said I am totally on the side of Bitcoin is money but I am against filters. I am a fan of privacy and knots hinders that for my Dojo.
Hasn't the OP_Return " problem" been done to death? The Genesis block has a message, that isn't money, where is the line drawn?
