The UAE Federal Youth Foundation organized the University Debating Championship with the participation of 14 universities across the UAE, where teams consisting of 56 students from universities competed in a intellectual face-off to promote knowledge, convergence of ideas, and visions within the framework of dialogue. The championship witnessed a wide youth engagement with the presence of H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Owras, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, and H.E. Dr. Sultan bin Saeed Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, where the competitions focused on two main topics: "Consumer debt boosts purchasing power" to promote financial literacy among youth, and "Digital media and national identity". H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Owras praised the importance of the championship in solidifying analytical and objective thinking skills among youth and translating them into logical arguments based on data, facts, and research that avoid personal biases. He emphasized that developing these skills is not less important than acquiring knowledge in scientific and specialized fields, highlighting that acquiring the ability to engage in rational dialogue, comparative thinking, and effective and positive communication with those who hold opposing views is a fundamental part of the learning process, as it is a characteristic of leaders, innovators, and outstanding individuals in their fields. For his part, H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi said: "The UAE continues its efforts to engage youth in all fields, providing an environment that enables them to present their opinions courageously, based on scientific data and proven facts, which will lead them to the core of truth that aligns with national aspirations within the framework of comprehensive development, and this is what the University Debating Championship embodies, representing a step towards building a generation capable of dialogue and positive participation in decision-making." The University of Sharjah team won the championship, amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm and pride at the closing ceremony.
