I have some complex feels about us neurodiverse folks using indigenous terms to describe ourselves.
I don't know, the entire neurodiversity discussion seems to revolve a lot around the experiences of white and often still pretty privileged folks and I am not sure if we should use terms from peoples who have suffered immense oppression. I wrote an essay on gendering and neurodiversity and the obvious racialized nature of the paradigm is unmissable. It's not great as it is.
Is it just me or has someone else thought about this? Is this empowering or stealing?
It has bothered me for some time, not an easy topic to talk about. But I can't unsee this.
