After watching Mehdi Hassan take on Eylon Levi the other day, I wondered if I could come up with a better plan for Israel to have followed after Oct 7. Because their spokespeople keep pleading, what else could we do but try to destroy Hamas? Here are my thoughts.
You already have a secure border between Gaza and the rest of Israel. It should not be beyond the capability of the IDF to prevent those kinds of incursions. Given the firepower of the IDF it should be a rather easy task.
Israel is not helpless against missile attacks. Maybe they could have ramped up defences against them, if missile assaults from Gaza were such a problem.
Supply chains into Gaza should be relatively easy to control. Some stuff will get through. But given the unprecedented control of the border Israel has had, it's a complete fail that Hamas had enough weapons to last longer than a week
Making the West Bank a success instead of stealing it would undermine Hamas politically.
