I think that's why a lot of conservative die-hards ridicule progressives. It's not easy (or shouldn't be). In the case of old cis-het white guys like myself, it takes constantly evaluating and re-evaluating one's reactions to things. Wait. Did I get that right? Did it help? If not, why did I go wrong and how do I avoid that trap in future.
It requires the ability for our inner editor to go, "Woah, dude. That sucked...here's why..."
All that in a society that is structured around guys, like myself, being able to say, "Screw it. Don't worry about it." and being able to get away with it as long as you don't care who you hurt.
