I'm subscribed to a few via blogtrottr that converts rss feeds to emails arriving in my inbox, but I don't feel like I come across many active bloggers, perhaps because nowadays we have social media doing the promoting of interesting content more than having to curate a set of people that *usually* write about interesting things?
