Does anyone yet live who remembers when people wanted to work at Home Depot because they hired pros who knew how to build, plumb, and wire? When you could ask someone in an orange apron a question and they offered good advice. When the employees got stock options? When you could return anything for any reason without a receipt?
Now that the local hardware stores are gone, the competition is defeated, none of those things are true.
This is the nature of capitalism.
