I joined masto during what I think was the second "twitter migration" wave, and I went out of my way to follow a lot of URMs, journalists, and academics, since I knew there wouldn't be an algorithm to surface those types of accounts to me "organically". Alas, the vast majority of them have left, citing lack of safety features.
