The server being unreachable in no way suggests there is a serious problem or anything has happened to your data.

During the update, the server makes a "bep-bep" noise every 30-60 seconds. This process can take up to 45 minutes in some cases. Most DIY devices do not have speakers, and people are impatient, and so they start clicking things and pulling power, which can result in a corrupted state.

At this point, the server will make a Beethoven chime, which means it is in diagnostic mode and therefor available by visiting start.local or by visiting the IP directly. Performing a "System Rebuild" from he diagnostic page will usually resolve the issue. In very rare cases, a single command may need to be run via SSH.

We have an unbelievably helpful support team available pretty much around the clock on our Telegram channel: https://t.me/start9_labs. Please drop in for assistance getting your devices running again, shouldn't take too long.

In the future, updates will serve their own user interface in order to provide visual, as well as audio, feedback for people without speakers.
