"content": "Lots of wind combined with lots of solar means mainland Britain is sailing along with almost 80% renewables. In fact we have a surplus of generation, which is being exported to surrounding countries. No coal. Gas is just 5.7% of the mix — and that’s because we need the inertia of those spinning turbines. Otherwise the gas could be turned off for a bit, which it will be soon enough.
