If you’ve read about American history, you should know all the ones that came over on the mayflower and landed at Plymouth Rock came from England and had English surnames, they were actually headed to Jamestown but was blown off course, Jamestown was an English colony.
Also when the black slaves were freed they took the surname of their slave owners, and almost every black person in America who’s ancestors were slaves have an English surname, very rarely you might come across one with a Scottish surname.
