a weird thing about Americans is they are obsessed with finding "the best" restaurant. my theory is that their restaurants in general are so mediocre that only the "the best" one in town is worth visiting, so that's what they look for when they travel. whereas places with good food culture, you don't have to go to "the best" or "the original," you just have to find a good one, of which there are probably dozens.
