Does any political reporter subtract more value from a major news outlet than Peter Baker does from the New York Times?
His work -- particularly the "news analysis" (a label that pretends it's not commentary) -- is a caricature of political journaiism. He states the obvious with savvy intensity on horse races and both-sides-ism.
Admittedly he has competition, but I think he's in a class of his own.
