Flower #flies, or hoverflies, often wear the colors of #bees. The Drone fly, Eristalis tenax, looks very much like a male honeybee.
To distinguish bees from flies, I start with the head. Bees have medium sized eye and long antennae. Flies have big eyes and stubby antennae. Flower flies are also #pollinators and offer many benefits to the garden.
