Imho slow and peaceful reunification would be the best outcome among the two possible ones, through wise diplomacy letting Taiwan keep as much as possible its sovereignty on internal affairs and on its bill of rights and devolving foreign and defense policy to Beijing.
Nowadays the only alternative seems war and total destruction to me.
