This asteroid passes near earth today and really underlines why there’s still a lot of work to be done on surveying. This thing is much, much larger than the estimated Tunguska impactor. This is “wipe out a city” size and it was only discovered in July. If it had been on an impact trajectory would we have managed to do anything about it?
