The Cochrane Collaboration was an incredible effort that produced gold standard systematic reviews for many clinical interventions. It was ultimately detonated from within, the story has been told in a number of places that are easy to find.

The Cochrane Collaboration really did deserve the highest recognition in science. In principle, AI can replicate and automate the entire effort with a mere prompt like "write me a systematic review on every single clinical intervention"...but we don't have that. No one is saying we will.

Even if we did have it, then why would people even bother reading systematic reviews? You would just be relying on AI for policies and/or decisions.

Makes me think about what is the right way AI should be used to help people make clinical decisions that have a good basis in reason and evidence?
