It's understandable that journalists in a country under attack will tend to pursue reporting that seems to be in the 'national interest' but I think it's even more impressive when they do not. For example the recent discussion by the Kyiv independent about why they reported on problems in the International Brigade shows they see exposing problems in Ukraine as part of seeking the truth, even if it makes the 'nation' look bad.
