Another bit that I think often gets overlooked, caught here. It’s easy to think of “the new thing” (Impressionism, Agile, New Southern poetry) as being something conceptual: a style, a set of propositions. It’s also a *set of skills* that are honed in semi- or fully-collaborative work that is critically observed in the moment or shortly thereafter.
