it's used on so many contexts its meaning is diluted into whatever. I call "races" the 3 factions you can choose in StarCraft for example. There's a word already to describe cultures which is... cultures. I usually ask "which Country are you from?" Rather than "what race are you?" lol That's funny, imagine someone replying something other than "human" to that question :D "I'm a demon from outer space!" lol
